It is one of the 14 buildings constructed under an MOU with the Province on City of Vancouver-owned sites to address homelessness. Two floors have restricted access and enhanced amenity areas to give a greater sense of security to the residents. One floor houses young adults aged 19 to 25 years and one floor is for women only. Six units on the main floor are reserved for higher need individuals requiring enhanced supervision.

Coast offers many programs which are available to the residents, including life skills training, structured volunteer work, employment in social enterprises and access to educational opportunities.
