Foxglove Supported Housing and Shelter

This is RainCity Housing and Support Services Society’s first project in Surrey. It offers the people experiencing homelessness in Surrey the chance to make a lasting change in their lives. This project has 24/7 staffing and features 66 supportive homes, 30 permanent shelter spaces for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness, as well as 34 complex-care beds for vulnerable people who need a level of support that goes beyond the current housing model.

The land for the project was provided by the City of Surrey.  Funding, including annual operational funding, comes from the Building BC: Supportive Housing Fund. The CMHC Co-Investment Fund also provided funding. RainCity Housing and Support Services Society operates the building and provides residents and shelter guests with meal programs, life and employment skills training, health and wellness support services and opportunities for volunteer work.

The complex care model in this project is an innovative new program and was one of the first of its kind of complex-care sites to open in the province.  In partnership with Fraser Health, complex care clients have access to enhanced supports on-site, including nurses, peer workers, social workers, and other health-care professionals, along with access to treatment and other specialized services.  Complex-care housing is voluntary and services follow the client, so if they move, the services move with them.

Terra has provided development management services to RainCity for over 20 years, together completing four projects with 300 units in the City of Vancouver.
