Four Sisters Housing Co-op

Named after Vancouver’s four sister cities, Edinburgh, Guangzhou, Odessa and Yokohama, this pioneering co-operative houses singles, families and seniors in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.

Terra provided development management services to assist the co-op in developing this project which has three buildings joined by a gated courtyard. The co-op has many amenities including an art room, conservatory and garden, fitness room, common room with full kitchen, library, playground, rooftop gardens and terraces, with BBQ pads on each roof and a woodworking shop.

The project has won several awards including a 1988 AIBC award for its innovative design and its success in housing a diverse mix of tenants.
