Terra Principal receives Honorary Lifetime Associate Award

The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada awarded Terra principal, Stuart Thomas, with this prestigious award at the Closing Dinner of the Annual General Meeting held in Calgary on June 8, 2013.

Stuart Thomas has been a major force in Canada's co-operative housing movement since 1979.  He began his involvement as part of a group of tenants who purchased and renovated their building to form Trafalgar Housing Co-op in Vancouver.  Since then, he has been a leader in strengthening and expanding affordable housing.

A pioneer on many fronts, Stuart was the first British Columbia regional director on the CHF Canada board, was its first elected treasurer, was a founding trustee of the Federal Co-operative Housing Stabilization Fund and was appointed to the first board of the Agency for Co-operative Housing.

At the awards ceremony, Stuart received a surprise visit from his Terra business partners, Jim O'Dea and Simon Davie, who joined him onstage to offer congratulations.
